Lagos PDP Suspends Bode George And 22 Others
A major political crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State after a faction aligned with Nyesom Wike announced the suspension of party elders including Chief Bode George, former Deputy Governor Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele and 22 others over alleged anti-party activities.
The decision was contained in a statement issued by the faction’s disciplinary committee, which said the affected members were barred from participating in any PDP activities.
It followed an emergency meeting where petitions against senior figures were reviewed.
The faction accused the suspended members of working against party interests and engaging in activities that could weaken the PDP structure in Lagos.
It also said legal steps could follow if any of the affected individuals continued to present themselves as party leaders.
The development reflects the wider internal struggle within the PDP, which has remained divided since the fallout of the 2023 elections.
Rival camps loyal to Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike continue to clash over control of party structures across several states.
