FG Announces Public Holiday For Eid Celebration
The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, 27 May, and Thursday, 28 May, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid ul Adha.
The decision was made through the Ministry of Interior and communicated in Abuja. It is aimed at giving Muslims across the country time to observe the religious celebration.
The government explained that the holiday reflects respect for the beliefs and traditions of Muslim faithful in Nigeria and the diaspora.
Eid ul Adha is widely seen as a festival centred on sacrifice, obedience, and kindness.
Citizens were encouraged to use the period for reflection and prayer.
Authorities also called on Nigerians to pray for peace, security, and national progress during the celebration.
The message extended goodwill to Muslim communities, wishing them a peaceful and joyful Eid period.
The holiday is expected to allow wider participation in religious and family activities.
