Politicians Won’t Stop Stealing If You Don’t Stone Us – Amaechi
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has accused Nigerian politicians of worsening corruption and economic hardship, saying they will keep misusing public funds unless citizens challenge them directly.
He made the comments while speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Friday.
He said governance in Nigeria is weakening and that many politicians have failed in their duty to the public.
Amaechi also pointed to long standing concerns about the behaviour of the political class, saying citizens must demand stronger accountability.
The former Rivers State governor recalled earlier remarks he made while in office, where he warned that political leaders would not change unless Nigerians took a stronger stand.
He insisted that public office holders continue to enrich themselves while many citizens struggle with poverty.
Amaechi added that not all politicians are the same, noting that some governors have performed well in office.
He said he remains committed to speaking out on governance issues as public frustration grows over inflation, insecurity and rising hardship.
