Nigerian entrepreneur and fashion designer Tania Omotayo has voiced her shock after discovering that a pack of strawberries was being sold for a staggering ₦50,000 in a Lagos supermarket.

Taking to Instagram, Omotayo questioned how basic fruits could be priced so high amid Nigeria’s economic challenges. “Are we not finished like this in this country?” she wrote, expressing her frustration.

Her post quickly resonated with many Nigerians, sparking conversations about the rising cost of living and the affordability of everyday goods. Social media users shared similar concerns over escalating prices of basic commodities.

The high price of strawberries in Nigeria is often linked to transportation expenses, the need for cold storage, and limited local production. These factors drive up the cost of imported fruits, making them increasingly inaccessible to the average consumer.
