ADC Loses Venue Hours To Convention
In Abuja, the African Democratic Congress has lost its planned convention venue after the Rainbow Event Centre withdrew permission.
The development came just hours before the scheduled gathering. Party spokesman Bolaji Abdullahi disclosed the update late Monday. The situation adds pressure ahead of the event.
The venue owner reportedly blamed pressure from authorities linked to the Federal Capital Development Authority and Nyesom Wike. According to the party, all payments had been completed and agreements signed before the sudden reversal.
The withdrawal created uncertainty around the convention plans. No official response has confirmed the allegation.
Earlier, the party had settled for the venue after failing to secure Eagle Square and the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Velodrome. The minister had insisted no formal application was submitted for Eagle Square.
He also clarified that the stadium falls under a different authority. The disagreement has fueled a growing dispute between both sides.
Despite the setback, the party maintained that the convention would go ahead. The development comes amid internal crisis following actions by the Independent National Electoral Commission affecting a faction led by David Mark.
The Supreme Court of Nigeria is also expected to hear an appeal tied to the dispute. The outcome could shape the party’s next steps.
