Mimiko is trending because Alex Onyia compared the former Ondo governor to Peter Obi, but political analysts disagreed.
Alex highlighted how Olusegun Mimiko ran under Labour Party and defeated PDP and AC by the sheer strength of his performance.
As he focused on health and education for his people. So Eze Obinna doubled down saying Mimiko is the closest to Obi in style of governance.
In the sense that, Peter Obi’s tenure as Anambra governor, he focused more on health and mostly education.
But, Nigerians disagreed.
Asked him to stop comparing Mimiko to Obi. Because Mimiko is miles ahead, as he built schools, infrastructures, hospitals, teaching hospitals, roads etc, unlike Peter Obi who’s only legacy in Anambra is a Beer Factory.
Eze Obinna reiterated that he’s not comparing achievements, but talking precisely about style of governance.
Mimiko was the 5th civilian governor of Ondo and the first one to do two terms. Most of all he was the first Nigerian governor under Labour Party. He was governor from 2009-2017.
The people of Ondo however are displeased with Mimiko’s successors from Rotimi Akeredolu to Lucky Aiyedatiwa, both APC for totally taking the state backwards and failing to build on Mimiko’s achievements.
