Army Reshuffles Top Command, Unveils New Commanders
The Nigerian Army has approved a wide-ranging redeployment of senior officers, with new appointments affecting operational commands, training institutions and key offices.
The changes, announced on Saturday, were approved by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, to improve operational performance and strengthen national security.
Among the appointments, Major General WM Dangana will lead the 3 Division and Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, while Major General EI Okoro takes over the 6 Division and Joint Task Force South-South Operation DELTA SAFE.
Several other officers were also assigned to brigade, garrison and headquarters positions.
The reshuffle also covers military schools and specialised formations.
Major General SA Emmanuel will head the Nigerian Army Space Command, while Major General KE Chigbu, Major General SD Makolo and Major General SO Adejimi received new appointments in defence and training institutions.
Other officers were posted to intelligence, logistics and military colleges.
The Army said the redeployment is part of its ongoing transformation programme to improve leadership and readiness.
Newly appointed officers have been directed to show professionalism, innovation and commitment in carrying out the Army’s duty of protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and supporting national security.
