Turaki PDP Seeks Police Probe Into INEC False Info
The Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked the Inspector-General of Police to investigate Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Abdulrahman Mohammed over claims that they submitted false information to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The petition was filed through the party’s lawyers, Ogbeide Associates.
The petition challenged a letter allegedly sent to INEC on November 3, 2025, claiming that Umar Iliya Damagum had been suspended as Acting National Chairman and replaced by Abdulrahman Mohammed.
The Turaki camp insisted no such decision was reached at the party’s emergency meeting.
According to the petition, the meeting instead resolved to suspend Anyanwu and three other officials over alleged anti-party activities.
It also claimed there were no meeting records or resolutions supporting Damagum’s removal and pointed to court rulings recognising him as Acting National Chairman.
The faction urged the police to also examine INEC’s handling of the disputed letter despite existing court judgments and party resolutions.
It maintained that all relevant records would be made available to investigators, saying the outcome could affect the ongoing leadership dispute within the PDP.
