APC Primaries Unseat Lagos Assembly Leaders
Three principal officers of the Lagos State House of Assembly have lost their tickets in the All Progressives Congress primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.
The affected lawmakers include the Majority Leader, Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip.
The APC primary exercise also saw several other sitting lawmakers fail to secure return tickets. In total, about a dozen legislators were dropped after the party concluded its selection process.
Well-known politicians such as Desmond Elliot and Gbolahan Ogunleye were among those who missed out.
Others from different constituencies across Lagos State were also affected by the outcome of the primaries.
Despite the losses, several lawmakers retained their positions and secured fresh tickets to contest again.
The results have reshaped the party’s lineup in the state assembly ahead of the next election cycle.
