Achievers University Exposes N457.5 Million Fees Fraud
Achievers University in Owo, Ondo State, has uncovered a ₦457.5 million school fees fraud after carrying out an audit of students’ payments.
The institution said the scam affected hundreds of students across three academic sessions.
The university revealed that a former bursary staff member allegedly used her access to the payment portal to clear school fees without the money reaching the institution.
Investigators said students were directed to pay fees into her personal bank account.
Management also discovered that several staff members, students and an external collaborator allegedly helped recruit participants into the illegal arrangement.
About 320 students were reportedly linked to the fraud uncovered during the audit exercise.
The institution has begun disciplinary actions against those involved, while the main suspect is currently under police investigation.
University authorities said more reviews are ongoing as they work to recover losses and tighten payment procedures.
