Five serving governors, namely Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Alex Otti of Abia State, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and the Governor of Zamfara State, are reportedly preparing to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in what is being described as a major political shift.

According to emerging reports, the governors are expected to be joined by 18 serving Senators as well as several members of the House of Representatives during a grand reception scheduled to take place at Eagle Square in Abuja on January 14, 2026.
