Oyo Appeals To Teachers, Sites Academic Disruption
The Oyo State Executive Council has urged the Nigerian Union of Teachers to end its ongoing action and allow pupils and students to return to classrooms across the state.
The government expressed concern over the impact of the disruption on academic activities.
The appeal followed growing worries about interruptions to the school calendar and the effect on learning. State officials said prolonged closure of schools could create challenges for students, parents and the education system.
The council acknowledged the concerns raised by teachers but stressed the need to balance those issues with the educational needs of learners.
It assured stakeholders that efforts were ongoing to address matters linked to the dispute.
The government called for cooperation and dialogue to restore normal school activities as quickly as possible. It maintained that keeping children in school remains a priority for the state.
