Oyedele Urges Mastercards Push For Nigerians
The Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has urged Mastercard to expand access to credit cards for Nigerians as part of efforts to deepen financial inclusion and improve access to consumer credit.
Oyedele made the call during discussions with the global payment company, stressing the need for more Nigerians to benefit from modern financial services.
He noted that wider access to credit could support households and small businesses.
The move is aimed at encouraging easier access to formal lending channels while reducing reliance on informal borrowing.
It also aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s digital payment and financial systems.
Stakeholders believe increased credit card availability could boost spending, support business growth and create more opportunities for individuals who currently have limited access to credit facilities.
