Fresh reports indicate that the abductors of pupils and teachers seized in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State are demanding ₦1 billion for their release.

The victims were taken during an attack on schools in the area, a development that has continued to spark concern across the country.

The demand reportedly goes beyond money, with the kidnappers also said to be insisting on the implementation of Sharia law as part of their conditions.

The claims emerged as families of the victims continue to wait anxiously for positive news about their loved ones.

The abduction has triggered protests, school closures and public outrage, with citizens calling for stronger security measures.

Labour unions, civil society groups and community leaders have also urged authorities to intensify efforts to secure the release of those still in captivity.

Security agencies have not publicly confirmed the reported conditions, but rescue operations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, pressure continues to mount on both federal and state authorities to bring the victims home safely and prevent further attacks on schools.
