Boko Haram Abduction Leaves Families In Fear
Thirteen travellers, including an infant, were abducted by suspected Boko Haram fighters on April 15, 2026, along the Biu–Damaturu highway in Borno State.
The attack happened near the Kamuya axis when armed men on motorcycles stopped two commercial vehicles. Most victims were taken into the forest while a few passengers were released.
Families of the victims say they have been left in fear and confusion for 50 days without updates from authorities.
They accuse both federal and state governments of silence as they continue to wait for news of their loved ones. The victims are believed to be held within the Sambisa forest area.
One family member explained that his wife, who works in local government, was returning from an IPPIS exercise when she was caught in the ambush.
He said she was travelling in a commercial vehicle when the attackers struck, forcing passengers into the bush. He also revealed that their seven-month-old baby had recently been discharged from hospital before the incident.
Relatives of the abducted victims are calling for urgent rescue action from security agencies and the Borno State government.
They say the lack of communication from the captors has deepened their anxiety as they continue to hope for the safe return of the 13 hostages.
