NERC Approves Compensation For Band A Customers
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a compensation package for eligible Band A electricity customers affected by poor electricity supply between February and March 2026.
The decision followed disruptions linked to generation shortfalls on the national grid during the period.
The measure targets customers who paid for premium electricity service but did not receive the expected hours of supply.
The commission said the package is intended to address losses suffered due to the power shortages.
The compensation was approved after regulators reviewed the impact of generation constraints on electricity distribution across affected areas.
The move is expected to provide some relief to customers who experienced prolonged service interruptions despite higher tariff payments.
The commission said eligible consumers would benefit through arrangements to be implemented by electricity distribution companies.
The initiative forms part of efforts to improve accountability and protect customers from service failures within the power sector.
