The Nigerian national team has resumed training after a standoff over unpaid allowances and bonuses, ending more than 24 hours of uncertainty in the camp.
The protest, which drew global attention, prompted swift intervention from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Sports Commission (NSC).
A reported meeting in Rabat between the players, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, and NSC officials helped resolve the issue. All 24 invited players—including Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, and captain William Troost-Ekong—are now back in camp and ready for selection.
Wednesday’s session will focus on tactical preparations for Thursday’s semi-final against Gabon in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa Play-off Tournament. The other semi-final will see Cameroon face DR Congo.
The resolution provides relief for head coach Eric Chelle, whose planning had been disrupted by the dispute, allowing the team to refocus on Nigeria’s bid to return to the World Cup after missing out in 2022.
