FG Begins Sports Facility Upgrade Nationwide
The Federal Government has approved a wide-ranging plan to upgrade sports infrastructure across Nigeria. The move covers several facilities, including major stadiums and training centres.
The goal is to improve sporting environments and support athlete development nationwide.
The project will see the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja undergo major renovation works. Officials say the upgrade is part of efforts to restore key sports venues to international standards.
Other facilities across different states are also included in the improvement plan.
The upgrades will involve repairs, modern equipment installation, and general facility expansion where needed.
Authorities say the work is aimed at making stadiums more suitable for both local and international competitions. Sports bodies are expected to supervise implementation alongside contractors.
The government says the initiative is part of its broader commitment to sports development and youth engagement.
It also expects the project to boost national sports performance and attract more major events to the country.
