Over 400 Arrested As PSG Celebration Turns Violent
France recorded mass arrests after Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League win over Arsenal sparked celebrations that later turned violent in parts of Paris and other cities.
Police confirmed that 416 people were detained nationwide following the unrest linked to the victory parade atmosphere.
The celebrations drew thousands of PSG supporters to major public spaces including the Champs-Élysées and areas around Parc des Princes.
While many fans marked the win peacefully, some groups clashed with police, with fireworks and flares adding to the disorder in several locations.
Authorities reported injuries to seven police officers and confirmed damage to vehicles, shops and public property during the incidents.
Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez condemned the violence, describing the behaviour as unacceptable and out of line with peaceful celebration.
Security forces used tear gas to disperse crowds as footage circulating online showed burning vehicles, vandalised shops and chaotic scenes across affected areas.
The celebrations come as PSG continues official victory events, including a planned parade and reception in Paris despite the unrest.
