Obi Speaks On Jonathan 2027 Rumours
Peter Obi has said reports about former President Goodluck Jonathan possibly joining the 2027 presidential race will not distract him from his political plans.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress chieftain spoke after completing his screening at the party secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night.
The former Anambra governor said democracy allows qualified citizens to seek public office freely.
He explained that his attention remains fixed on presenting solutions aimed at improving governance and rebuilding the country.
Obi also denied claims that he emerged as the party’s presidential candidate through consensus.
According to him, the NDC opened the process to interested aspirants, but he was the only person who obtained the expression of interest form.
He further praised the party for conducting what he described as a transparent screening exercise.
Obi said the process reflected internal democracy and proper political organisation within the NDC ahead of the 2027 election.
