INEC Sends Warning To Election Staff
The Independent National Electoral Commission has cautioned its workers against tampering with election results ahead of the Ekiti State governorship poll.
INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, delivered the warning during a meeting with staff in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.
He warned electoral officers against any action capable of damaging the credibility of the election process.
According to him, officials found guilty of misconduct or compromise during the election would face disciplinary action.
Amupitan described the Ekiti governorship election as an important test ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He urged workers to maintain honesty and professionalism before, during and after the poll while carrying out their duties.
The INEC chairman also assured staff that outstanding performance would attract rewards and recognition.
He added that the commission was still working towards improving workers’ welfare despite funding challenges facing the agency.
