Obi Warns Against Normalising School Abductions
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, , has expressed concern over the growing number of school abductions across the country.
He warned that Nigeria risks becoming comfortable with insecurity and poor leadership if urgent action is not taken.
In a message shared on social media, Obi recalled the 2014 abduction of more than 200 schoolgirls in Chibok, Borno State, which drew global attention and sparked widespread calls for action.
He noted that later school kidnappings have not generated the same level of public outrage despite their frequency.
The former Anambra State governor said Nigeria witnessed several school abductions during the administration of and that similar incidents have continued under President .
He questioned whether repeated attacks had made many Nigerians less sensitive to a crisis that once shocked the nation.
Obi argued that insecurity, economic hardship and weak governance continue to damage the country’s progress.
He called for responsible and people-focused leadership while urging young Nigerians to remain engaged, reject complacency and work towards building a safer and better nation.
