Police Dismisses Death Report On Oyo Schoolchildren
The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that one of the schoolchildren abducted during the attack on schools in Ahoro-Esienle, Oriire Local Government Area has died while in captivity.
Authorities said the claim is false and intended to mislead the public.
The police spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said the report circulating online has no factual backing and was spread by individuals trying to create panic.
He added that no security agency involved in the rescue operation has confirmed any death.
The command explained that efforts are still ongoing to secure the release of the abducted pupils and urged the public to disregard unverified claims.
It warned that such reports could disrupt rescue operations and add pressure on affected families.
The police also advised media platforms, bloggers and social media users to confirm sensitive information before sharing it.
It assured residents that only verified updates from official channels will be released as the rescue operation continues.
