Protest Hits Lagos APC Over Primaries
Members of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State staged a protest at the party secretariat in Ogba on Tuesday over disputes arising from the Agege Constituencies I and II primary elections.
The unrest followed the release of the official results by the state leadership of the party.
The protesters rejected the published outcome, insisting that the actual winners were different from those announced.
They maintained that the primary election process produced Ganiyu Egunjobi for Agege Constituency I and Azeez Yusuf for Constituency II, contrary to the party’s declaration.
Armed with placards and chanting slogans, the aggrieved members accused party leaders of altering the results and ignoring the choice of voters.
They demanded that the party uphold what they described as the genuine outcome of the primaries and respect internal democracy.
Security personnel were deployed to manage the crowd as the protest continued.
Meanwhile, the Lagos APC leadership advised dissatisfied members to channel their complaints through established party procedures, stating that the primaries had already been concluded.
