NLC, TUC Threatens National Shutdown Over Insecurity
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have warned of possible nationwide industrial action over the worsening security situation across the country.
The labour centres said growing attacks, killings, kidnappings and violence have continued to put the lives of Nigerians at risk.
The warning comes amid fresh concerns over persistent insecurity in several parts of the country.
The unions said many communities are living in fear, while workers and ordinary citizens face increasing danger in their daily activities.
According to the labour groups, the government must take stronger and more effective steps to protect lives and property.
They argued that improving security remains a basic responsibility of any government and called for urgent action to address the crisis.
The NLC and TUC maintained that continued failure to tackle insecurity could force organised labour to mobilise workers for a nationwide strike.
They said the safety of Nigerians must remain a top priority and urged authorities to act before the situation deteriorates further.
