Nigerian singer Ruger has sounded the alarm over the increasing wave of kidnappings in the country, particularly as the December festive season approaches.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his concern, writing: “I’m scared for people this December. Kidnapping has become a full-time business in some parts of Nigeria and it’s only gonna get worse this festive season. People will travel back to their villages from abroad and from many other places in Nigeria. These bastards will strike hard.”

Ruger pointed out the heightened risk for Nigerians traveling home for the holidays, describing the rise in kidnappings as a well-organized and ongoing threat in some regions.

His warning comes amid a spate of high-profile abduction cases. In August 2025, gunmen kidnapped at least 45 women and children in overnight raids across five villages in northwest Nigeria. Previously, in March 2024, over 200 students were abducted from a school assembly in Kuriga, Kaduna State.

Through his post, Ruger urged citizens to stay vigilant and called on authorities to take urgent measures to ensure the safety of people during the festive season.
