Tegbe Denies Grid Promise
Joseph Tegbe has dismissed reports claiming he promised to repair Nigeria’s troubled national power grid within three months.
The minister said the reports circulating online misrepresented what happened during his Senate screening held on May 6, 2026.
In a statement released on Thursday, his spokesperson, Adeola Adelabu, described the reports as inaccurate and misleading.
He explained that Tegbe never gave any timeline for fixing the country’s electricity grid during the screening session.
The clarification followed growing reactions after reports claimed the minister assured lawmakers that the long-standing problems affecting the power sector would be resolved within a short period.
The reports quickly attracted attention from Nigerians frustrated with repeated power failures and grid collapses.
The minister’s team insisted that Tegbe only discussed plans to improve the electricity sector through reforms and long-term strategies.
They urged the public to ignore false claims and rely on verified information regarding government policies on power supply.
