President Donald Trump has confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs has sought a presidential pardon in connection with his federal criminal conviction.

Speaking with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins on Monday about a possible pardon for Jeffrey Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell, Trump noted that “a lot of people have asked me for pardons,” including Combs, who was sentenced last Friday to more than four years in prison after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

In August, Combs’ legal team informed CNN that they had approached the Trump administration regarding a potential pardon. Attorney Nicole Westmoreland said at the time, “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon.”

Trump had previously suggested he was unlikely to grant Combs a pardon. In an interview with Newsmax, he said, “I was very friendly with him, I got along with him great and he seemed like a nice guy. I didn’t know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile,” adding that this history made a pardon “more difficult to do.”
