Oshiomhole Backs Death Penalty
Former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole has backed Governor Monday Okpebholo’s proposal to impose the death penalty on convicted kidnappers and bandits.
He spoke during the APC campaign flag-off for the Edo North local government elections in Auchi.
Oshiomhole said Edo had the right to make laws to tackle crimes within the state and insisted that criminals should not be allowed to operate freely.
He also renewed his support for the creation of state police to improve security.
Governor Okpebholo said his administration was investing in roads, schools, markets and other projects across the state.
He also praised the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal, saying it had increased funds available for development.
The governor urged party members to support APC candidates in the local government elections and begin preparations for the 2027 general election.
Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh also called on the candidates to focus on grassroots development if elected.
