United States President, Donald Trump has stated that the United States military will continue to carry out strikes on terrorist targets in Nigeria if what he referred to as the “slaughter of Christians continues.”

The US President made this declaration late on Thursday while revealing that the US War Department, acting on his instructions, launched “perfect” airstrikes on Christmas Day in Nigeria, directed at “terrorist scum,” whom he accused of “targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians”.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump also extended Christmas wishes to everyone, including the dead terrorists, adding that only the United States has the capacity to carry out such numerous strikes.

“Tonight, at my direction as Commander in Chief, the United States launched a powerful and deadly strike against ISIS Terrorist Scum in Northwest Nigeria, who have been targeting and viciously killing, primarily, innocent Christians, at levels not seen for many years, and even Centuries!

“I have previously warned these Terrorists that if they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay, and tonight, there was. The Department of War executed numerous perfect strikes, as only the United States is capable of doing. Under my leadership, our Country will not allow Radical Islamic Terrorism to prosper.

“May God bless our Military, and MERRY CHRISTMAS to all, including the dead Terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues,” Trump said in a late Thursday post.

Tribune Online reports that, after he alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, Trump directed the United States military in November to prepare for possible action in the West African nation.

He accused the Nigerian government of ignoring what he described as the killings of Christians across the country.

He further suggested that the United States might take military action to eliminate what he called “Islamic terrorists” responsible for the attacks.

However, after strategic engagements between the United States and Nigeria, through a Nigerian delegation led by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Tribune Online reports that the US War Secretary, Pete Hegseth, stated that the United States military “is working aggressively with Nigeria to end the persecution of Christians by jihadist terrorists.”

In addition, a United States federal lawmaker, Riley Moore, who visited Nigeria, commended the engagements between both countries, describing the security discussions as “productive.”
