APC Rallies After Court Victory
The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti has welcomed a Federal High Court ruling that dismissed a case against Governor Biodun Oyebanji ahead of the June 20 governorship poll.
The suit, filed by aspirant Abimbola Olawunmi, challenged her disqualification from the party primary.
The court, presided over by Peter Lifu, ruled that the case came too late, lacked merit, and could not be decided by the judiciary.
It also held that party membership and internal matters fall within the control of political parties, leading to the dismissal of the suit.
Reacting, the APC described the judgment as a step forward but urged members not to see it as a win over others.
The party called for unity and asked supporters to step up mobilisation efforts across wards and local councils as the election draws closer.
The party also threw its weight behind Oyebanji’s re-election bid, citing his record in governance and development.
It set a target of winning all 177 wards and securing at least 500,000 votes, while praising the judiciary and party members for their role during the legal battle.
