Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has issued a stark warning to President Donald Trump, saying any American military move into Nigeria would be met with deadly resistance.
In a video that has been widely shared on Facebook, Asari declared, “Let Trump come with his America, they will all die.” He accused the US leader of erratic ambitions and compared recent international responses to conflicts around the world, suggesting selective outrage.
Asari called the United States “a sick country” and criticised what he described as double standards in global politics, pointing to violence in Congo, Gaza and Sudan that, he said, go largely ignored. He also singled out South Africa, claiming biased attention on alleged crimes there while other crises are overlooked.
Drawing on historical precedent, Asari asked where past American interventions have succeeded long term, referencing Vietnam to argue that foreign forces do not always prevail. He claimed Nigerians would fight back vigorously if an invasion occurred.
Asari framed his remarks around personal identity and alliances, saying, “I’m a Muslim who is in the oasis of non-muslim. What I am today was not made by Muslims, I was made by non-Muslims.” He used the line to stress unity beyond religious lines and to reject accusations that his stance is sectarian.
The clip underscores growing tensions after the United States raised concerns about alleged attacks on Christians in Nigeria, and it highlights Asari’s continued posture against outside interference in the country.
