Police Officers Raise Alarm Over Ondo Election Logistics
Security personnel deployed for the Ondo South Senatorial District bye-election have raised concerns over poor logistical arrangements.
The election is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, and officers say preparations for their deployment have not met expected standards.
Some officers involved in election duty complained that they were not provided with transport arrangements.
They said they were instructed to find their own way to polling units and other assigned locations, raising concerns about mobility and readiness for the exercise.
Sources within the operation also noted that welfare support for some personnel appeared inadequate.
There were claims that only certain categories of officers were affected, with suggestions that many were mobilised from within Ondo State rather than from outside the state.
The situation has sparked discussions about the importance of proper logistics and welfare for security agencies during elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has already released the list of candidates for the poll, as stakeholders continue to call for improved support to ensure a smooth and peaceful voting process.
