Terror gripped the Zuru Emirate area in Kebbi State following a violent raid on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga, located in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

Armed bandits launched a nighttime assault that resulted in the death of the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and the abduction of an unspecified number of students.

Malam Makuku reportedly lost his life while bravely trying to protect the students during the attack. The exact number of kidnapped students remains unknown as officials have yet to release comprehensive details.

A resident, Murjanatu Hassan Gishiri, confirmed the attack, describing how the assailants invaded the school without resistance, spreading fear throughout the community. “This is a heartbreaking tragedy that has left the entire region gripped by fear and sorrow,” she said.

Community members continue to mourn the fallen vice principal, remembering him as a committed teacher and guardian who cared deeply for his pupils.

While security agencies have yet to make an official statement, there is growing demand from locals for swift action by state and federal authorities to rescue the abducted students and enhance security measures to protect schools and vulnerable communities in the region.
