The Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested three young women seen in a viral video assaulting and stripping a Federal University Otuoke student, identified as Nancy Wilfred. The incident took place in Yenagoa, the state capital.
In the footage, the victim was slapped, kicked, and beaten before her braids were cut off with a sharp object. The attack was reportedly fueled by allegations that Nancy had a relationship with the boyfriend of one of the assailants.
Following widespread outrage, police launched a manhunt and arrested the suspects on charges including assault, attempted murder, grievous harm, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and abduction.
According to the police, the breakthrough came after Zone 16 operatives, working with the university’s security unit, apprehended the prime suspect, identified as Kadi, who then provided information leading to the arrest of the other two girls.
Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police confirmed that the suspects are in custody and undergoing interrogation before being charged to court. He also assured the public that the command remains committed to ensuring justice and protecting the rights of all citizens.
