NDC Primary Crisis Sparks Ticket Dispute in Kaduna
A candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress for the Kaduna State House of Assembly in Kawo Constituency, Rakiya Baba Mohammed, has accused party leaders of plans to replace her as the party’s flagbearer despite winning the primary election.
The aspirant said she secured 225 votes in the May 29, 2026 primary, defeating her rival who polled 132 votes.
She maintained that the results were officially confirmed by election officials and security representatives present during the process.
She alleged that after the primary, efforts emerged within the party structure to change the outcome and hand the ticket to her opponent.
She linked the development to internal party influence and claims of external pressure from political figures connected to the rival candidate.
Rakiya urged the party to respect the outcome of the primary and allow her to stand as the candidate, insisting that she followed all procedures and met all requirements during the process.
She also raised concerns about fairness within the party’s nomination system.
