Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential flagbearer in the 2023 election, has formally dumped the party for the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The announcement was made on Wednesday, December 31, in Enugu, as Obi set the tone for his political plans ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to the former Anambra State governor, the decision to align with the ADC is part of a broader effort to reposition Nigeria and lead what he described as a rescue mission for the country.
“We are ending this year with the hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey,” he stated.
He further assured supporters that electoral malpractice would be challenged, saying, “We will resist rigging of election by every lawful means in 2027.”
