Dele Momodu has criticized First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for publicly confronting Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during a recent event in Ile-Ife.
The video shows Governor Adeleke beginning his speech with a song, when the First Lady, recently honoured as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua, approached the podium and warned him to stop, threatening to switch off the microphone.
Momodu described her actions as “totally beneath her,” emphasizing that she is not an elected official and has no constitutional authority to reprimand a sitting governor in public.
He also questioned the religious and regional implications of the incident, noting that it is surprising for a self-professed pastor to object to a governor praising God, and asking whether she would have acted similarly if a Northern governor were reciting the Qur’an.
While many noted Governor Adeleke’s composure, Momodu blamed Nigerians for passively accepting such overreach, calling it a reflection of a society that has surrendered its rights to power and influence.
