A Nigerian Army officer, Lieutenant Samson Haruna, has died from severe burns after allegedly being set on fire by his wife during a domestic dispute in Akwa Ibom State.

Neighbours, alerted by his screams, rushed to the scene, extinguished the flames, and took him to a hospital, where he battled for several days before succumbing to his injuries.
Colleagues described Lieutenant Haruna as a calm and disciplined soldier, making his death particularly tragic. Sources also noted that the couple had a history of frequent disputes prior to the deadly altercation.
The wife has been arrested by police and is currently being questioned as investigations continue.
