FG Launches $100m Mini Grid Project in Kogi
The Federal Government has started a 100 million dollar mini grid electricity project in Kogi State aimed at improving power supply.
The initiative is designed to boost electricity access for communities and support local economic activity.
It is expected to provide additional energy capacity of about 20 megawatts.
The project is being implemented in selected areas of the state where access to reliable power has remained limited.
Authorities say the development will support homes, small businesses and industrial activities by improving electricity distribution and stability.
Officials involved in the project say it is part of broader efforts to expand Nigeria’s energy infrastructure through decentralised power systems.
The mini grid model is intended to complement the national grid and reduce pressure on existing power facilities.
The Federal Government says the project will be delivered in phases, with monitoring put in place to ensure steady progress.
It adds that improved electricity supply is expected to support job creation and strengthen local economies in Kogi State.
