Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has alleged that he has been marked for elimination after reportedly being labelled as a Boko Haram figure.
Gumi stated that the information was secretly communicated to him by security contacts.
He made the claim while addressing his congregation in a video currently circulating on social media.
According to him, he received a phone call early in the morning from an unidentified individual in Abuja, who informed him that his name was mentioned during a national security meeting.
“They called me from Abuja and told me there was a security meeting. They said I have been marked, that I will be eliminated. And who are Boko Haram?” Gumi queried.
He further questioned the wider conversation surrounding terrorism, alleging that powerful global actors were responsible for the rise of extremist movements.
“Even Americans said they came to fight terrorists, so who are the terrorists? They are the ones,” he said.
