Mohbad Paternity Drama Takes New Turn

Mr. Joseph Oluwabamiwo Aloba, father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has petitioned the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Lawal Pedro (SAN), to prosecute those indicted in the circumstances leading to his son’s death.

In the petition dated October 3, 2025, and submitted through his counsel, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), Mr. Aloba demanded that Mohbad’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, the auxiliary nurse, Miss Ogedengbe Fisayo, Ibrahim Owodunni a.k.a. Prime Boy, and others present in the singer’s apartment at the time of his death be charged within 14 days.

The petition followed the July 11, 2025 verdict of the coroner, Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi, which found them complicit. The coroner ruled that Fisayo, who was neither a licensed nurse nor doctor, administered three injections to Mohbad without any diagnostic assessment, describing her actions as unlawful medical practice and gross negligence.

On Omowunmi’s part, the verdict held that her decision to allow an uncertified auxiliary nurse to treat her husband at home, coupled with her failure to insist on emergency services or proper ambulance care, amounted to negligence.

Others in the apartment, including Prime Boy, were also indicted for either arranging the nurse’s involvement or refusing to take the deceased to a recognized medical facility.

Dr. Shittu argued that despite these clear indictments, no action has been taken since the verdict was delivered, adding that justice must not only be done but also seen to be done. He urged the Attorney General to act within 14 days or grant him a fiat to prosecute the matter on behalf of the state.

He stressed that the case remains highly sensitive and of great public interest, and failure to prosecute those indicted would undermine confidence in the justice system.
