Terrorists who abducted 10 residents of Isapa town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have issued a one-week ultimatum demanding a N300 million ransom, threatening to kill the captives if the money is not paid.
The victims were kidnapped last Sunday, and after several days of negotiation, none has been released.
The attackers initially demanded N500 million but later reduced the ransom to N300 million.
They warned that failure to meet their demand within the deadline would lead to another violent invasion of the town, with a threat to kill many more residents.
The ultimatum has heightened fear and anxiety across Isapa.
Speaking with journalists on Wednesday, the Chief Hunter of Isapa, Mr A. Adeyeye, confirmed the latest message from the kidnappers, revealing that the community pleaded with the armed group and offered N5 million, but the criminals rejected it.
Adeyeye said: “Despite pleas from the community offering N5 million, the armed group rejected the offer, describing it as unacceptable and far below their expectations.”
