NDC Exempts Obi And Kwankwaso From Anti Defection Oath
The Nigeria Democratic Congress has excluded its presidential candidate Peter Obi and vice presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso from a newly introduced anti defection oath designed to prevent elected members from leaving the party after securing victory.
The party said the policy was created to strengthen loyalty among office holders and reduce cases of political defection that often follow elections.
However, top candidates on the presidential ticket were not included in the requirement.
Party officials explained that the exemption was necessary to maintain stability at the leadership level while the broader membership is expected to comply fully with the new rule.
The development comes as the party continues internal restructuring ahead of future elections, with emphasis on discipline and party unity.
