Otti – Abure Peace Talks Collapse
Fresh crisis has hit the Labour Party after factional chairman Julius Abure confirmed that reconciliation talks with Abia State governor Alex Otti ended without agreement.
Abure said the meeting was organised to restore unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections, but discussions broke down over disagreements on party structure and leadership positions.
He claimed Otti wanted full control of key party offices and candidate selections.
The Labour Party factional leader also denied reports that money was demanded during the talks.
According to him, financial matters were never discussed at any point during the reconciliation meeting.
Despite the failed talks, Abure expressed confidence that the leadership dispute would eventually be resolved by the Supreme Court as the party continues to battle internal divisions.
