CAN Declares Statewide Prayer In Oyo
The Christian Association of Nigeria in Oyo State has declared a special day of prayer and fasting for the safe return of students and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area.
Churches across the state were directed to hold spiritual programmes on Wednesday as fear continues to spread among residents over the school attack.
The decision followed the abduction of dozens of pupils, teachers and a school principal after armed men invaded three schools in the area on Friday.
The incident has thrown many families into distress, with parents and community leaders calling for urgent action from security agencies.
CAN leaders said the prayer session was aimed at seeking divine intervention as efforts continue to rescue the victims.
The association also urged residents to remain calm and support security operations instead of spreading panic or unverified information.
The group further appealed to the government and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure schools and prevent more attacks on children and teachers in the state.
Many residents have continued to express concern over rising insecurity around rural communities.
