Peter Obi’s son, Oseloka, has responded to viral images circulating online that allegedly show him with a gay partner, dismissing the claims as malicious fabrications.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Oseloka said he had long chosen to ignore false narratives about his private life but decided it was time to speak out.
“Dear Nigerians, I have refrained from engaging with the vitriol, scorn, and suspicion directed at me online because I was not raised to trade in lies or indulge in false narratives. I did not do so as a child, and I will not begin now as a grown man,” he wrote.
He explained that because of his father’s role in Nigerian politics, there has been “persistent curiosity and, at times, malicious obsession” with him. Without any social media presence of his own, he rarely corrected the falsehoods but noted that recent attacks had gone too far.
According to Oseloka, political opponents have repeatedly misused ordinary photos to spread lies. “These are not revelations or exposés. They are misrepresentations — fiction spun from pictures,” he stated.
Oseloka clarified that he is an actor pursuing a career in theatre and filmmaking — far from politics — and that diversity in the arts is often misinterpreted by those seeking to malign him or his father. “I portray characters vastly different from myself, yet some online use these roles to create false stories,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to focus on pressing national challenges rather than manufactured scandals. “Our country faces insecurity, a weakened economy, crumbling infrastructure, and failing healthcare. Yet, some prefer to gossip about who Peter Obi’s son appears with in a photo. This is a distraction from the real crises.”
While acknowledging that he and his father are not perfect, Oseloka reaffirmed his support for Peter Obi’s vision for Nigeria. “My father has my vote, not because he is my father, but because he is the right man for the job. If others wish to go low, invent scandals, or attack me to wound him, they are free to do so. But we will go high and continue to focus on the future of Nigeria.”
He concluded by calling on those spreading lies to stop diverting attention from the issues that truly matter to Nigerians.
