Sokoto Calms Residents Fears Over Turji’s Banditry Threats
The Sokoto State Government has assured residents that security agencies are monitoring developments across the state following reports that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji may have acquired new weapons and recruited trainers for his fighters.
Officials said measures are already in place to keep communities safe.
The assurance was given by the Special Adviser on Security Matters, retired Colonel Ahmed Usman, who said intelligence reports are being treated seriously.
He noted that the government is working closely with the military, police and other security agencies to prevent any threat to peace in the state.
Usman said Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration has continued to support security operations through the provision of vehicles, motorcycles, communication gadgets, fuel and other resources.
He added that funding has also been provided to strengthen intelligence gathering and local security efforts.
The government urged residents to remain calm, stay alert and share useful information with security agencies.
It also pledged to continue working with relevant stakeholders to improve security and protect communities from criminal attacks.
