Former Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye has announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while expressing strong confidence that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will capture the presidency.
In a video message posted on Viable TV, the lawyer and former lawmaker used harsh language to describe his former party while calling for widespread mobilization for the ADC.
“As you are going out, let the fire of conviction start burning. Anywhere you go, speak ADC,” Melaye urged supporters in the video.
The former senator made disparaging remarks about the PDP’s current state, suggesting that prominent figures like former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike now control what remains of the party.
“Those of us in PDP, we have left the carcass of PDP for Wike and his friends. Dead body get accident, they will carry it to wherever they want to carry it to,” Melaye stated, using colorful imagery to describe his view of the party’s condition
Despite these criticisms of his former party, Melaye expressed unwavering confidence in the ADC’s presidential prospects.
“But we know that ADC is moving to the villa. That’s so, by the grace of the almighty God,” he declared, referring to the presidential residence.
