The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said that he will soon make public the full details of the peace agreement reached between him and the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, during a reconciliation meeting held before President Bola Tinubu.

Wike disclosed this on Wednesday during a “thank-you visit” to Tai Local Government Area in Rivers State.

It was recalled that President Tinubu, in June, intervened and facilitated a peace arrangement between both men in a bid to resolve the prolonged political crisis in the state.

The minister accused Governor Fubara of failing to honour the agreement, stating that the terms would soon be released for the public to see. He said: “Very soon, we will let people know what we agreed on before Mr President.”

He advised the people of Tai to be wary of politicians who fail to abide by their promises, insisting that such people should not be trusted.

Wike, who declared that Rivers people were fully prepared for the 2027 elections, said that money would not influence electoral outcomes in the state, adding that the will of the people would prevail.

He further explained that his visit was not politically motivated but rather to appreciate the people of Tai for their support for him and President Tinubu during the 2023 general elections.

He said, “It was a tough battle in 2023. You took a risk, worked with us, and God gave us victory. See what that risk has resulted in — a federal university situated in Tai and many other benefits.”

Earlier, Senator Barry Npigi, representing Rivers South-East, expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and Wike for their support to the senatorial district, noting that the people had never enjoyed such benefits in the past.

He pledged continued loyalty to Wike and said the people remained committed to justice, equity, and fairness in line with the direction of the Tinubu administration.

Also speaking, Bernard Nbar, member representing Tai Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, assured Wike of sustained support from his constituents, saying: “You can count on the Tai people, because Tai people keep to their words.”

The Chairman of Tai Local Government Council, Mbakpone Okpe, thanked Wike for the visit and described his directive to support Tinubu in 2023 as a blessing to the people.

He noted that Tai had benefited from appointments, infrastructure projects, empowerment initiatives, and other democratic dividends, adding that the people were prepared to support President Tinubu for a second term.

He said: “For these reasons and more, we are eager to return Mr President for another tenure. We will roll out all our votes for Tinubu and whoever you support.”
